Major Moscow's Strikes Cut Electricity Throughout Ukraine's Capital
Throughout the evening, Moscow's missile and drone strikes have resulted in electricity outages in large parts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.
Nine people were injured while residents in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and faced problems to water supplies, according to city officials.
Meanwhile, a minor was killed in a different Russian drone strike in the Zaporizhzhia area in the country's south-east, as reported by area administrators.
Moscow has escalated assaults on electrical systems over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has called for "substantial measures" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.
"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, the EU and the G7 - in supplying air defence systems and applying restrictions," was stated in a public message.
Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles struck Ukraine's energy infrastructure, describing such attacks as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.
The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were striving to repair systems.
A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in Kyiv.
Five out of the nine people hurt in the assaults on the capital have been transported for medical care, according to local officials.
Local officials said the urban area endured intense attacks overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and several individuals were wounded.
The attacks succeed evenings of air raids in the area, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.
All of Ukraine is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are harder to spot.
National leaders told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with strikes already affecting gas facilities.
