An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions follow a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their suitcases after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the those hurt during the incident. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later released.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals injured by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The attack - an event that authorities stated was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - resulted in delays to rail services and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
